Classes emphasize creative movement principals and simplified ballet technique. They are tailored to address sensory sensitivities and include age-appropriate gross motor movement in a structured studio environment.
But most of all, we have fun exploring the power of dance and rhythm! Check out the article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and "On Stage: Exploring Ballet in a New Way" in CrossCurrents by Jane Vranish (scroll down to the Jan. 15, 2015 entry).
Classes are accompanied by live percussion music. They are limited to 15 students each and are taught by two PBT school instructors experienced in adaptive dance.
Caregivers will be allowed to observe and/or participate in the classes as desired.
The classes will take place at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre Studios (2900 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15201). Ample parking is available in the lot directly adjacent to the studios. Click here for the link to a pre-visit guide that introduces students to our studio space.
