Raising the Barre
The Raising the Barre bus funding program gives qualifying schools additional funds to support the educational experience of attending Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s student matinees at the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts in the heart of Downtown Pittsburgh’s Cultural District. Raising the Barre also offers professional development for educators to better prepare their students for attending the ballet.
Bus Funding is limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to schools that complete the following requirements. Please note: all applications and payment for tickets must be submitted ten (10) days prior to the PD Educator Workshop.
To participate in the program, schools must complete the following requirements:
¨ Complete and return the application at least ten (10) days prior to the PD Educator Workshop.
¨ Submit request and payment for tickets at least ten (10) days prior to the PD Educator Workshop.
¨ Attend the PD Educator Workshop (free of charge for one educator from your school) for that corresponding performance. Act 48 hours available.
¨ Prepare students to attend the matinee performance to the best of your ability.
¨ Attend the Ballet and supervise students. There must be one adult chaperone for every 20 students. One chaperone ticket will be provided for every 20 tickets purchased.
¨ Complete and return the post-performance evaluation forms for both adults and students.
