Designed for children in Pre-K through Grade 2, this program takes place in your classroom and gives young children a chance to meet and talk with a dancer. An interactive presentation, Ballet FUNdamentals may involve a ballet-related story, a hands-on opportunity with ballet and pointe shoes, and firsthand experience with the five basic positions of the feet and arms, all resulting in a lot of FUN! Ballet FUNdamentals may also be adapted for older students and adults. Cost is $125 or $175 for back-to-back programs.
Feedback: “The children were very interested in learning the ballet moves. They talked about the ballerina and her “moves” for days. We “talk” about ballerinas at times, but it was great for them to actually see one in person!” ~ Laine Cryder, The Early Learning Institute
This up-close look at the training of aspiring ballet dancers provides a deeper understanding of ballet performance by examining "tools of the trade," such as pointe shoes and costumes, elements of the theater and the athleticism of dancers. This 35-to-45-minute program for grades 3-12 is designed to fit into one class period! Cost is $150 plus travel expenses.
Feedback: “Students were attentive, because the information and dancing were in perfect balance with each other. Observing the various poses and movement that were demonstrated by the dancers helped students to be more confident when it was their turn to try the movements. This program was informative, interactive, and most importantly, fun!” ~Kathy Vollrath, Hempfield Area School District
Preschool Discover Dance
Designed for 3-5 year olds, the 30-minute Preschool Discover Dance provides an age-appropriate performance interspersed with interactive instruction on choreography, costumes, shoes and props. A creative movement component for the children is also included. Preschool Discover Dance programs may take place at your location or for an extra-special outing at PBT Studios!
Feedback: “It was a wonderful experience for all! So new for both our children and many of our staff. It was really wonderful for me to see the dancers up close – so different from sitting in an audience at the theatre. The dancers were just amazing, and I had such an enjoyable time watching the faces of the children.” Amy Maddock, Transition Coordinator, Pittsburgh Public Schools Early Childhood
