Poinsettias & Pointe Shoes
In celebration of Pittsburgh’s Light Up Night festivities, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre will combine two Pittsburgh traditions on Friday, November 22, for Poinsettias and Pointe Shoes —a special family-friendly event that will bring the magic of The Nutcracker ballet to Phipps’ historic glasshouse in Oakland.
Performed by a cast of Pre-Professional students of PBT School, this sampling of ballet vignettes—including the Sugarplum Pas de Deux—from Terrence S. Orr’s The Nutcracker will give guests the chance to see the next generation of professional dancers, many of whom will also have the opportunity to perform on the Benedum stage alongside company dancers. A meet and greet with the Sugarplum Fairy — and other costumed dancers — will conclude each show with photo opportunities for children and families. Registered guests can also explore Phipps’ gardens and stop by the café throughout the evening for wine and other fare.
Two sessions of Poinsettias and Pointe Shoes will be offered with performances at 6 and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22.
Poinsettias and Pointe Shoes costs $25.75 for adults and $12.75 for children, and includes an exclusive 50-percent-off ticket special to attend PBT’s full-length performance of The Nutcracker at the Benedum Center. Tickets for this evening's 7:30PM performance will be available at the door.
