PBT Presents Buzzword
The Story
I Like Myself!/
Me Gusta C mo Soy! High on energy and imagination, this ode to self-esteem encourages kids to appreciate everything about themselves—inside and out. Messy hair? Beaver breath? So what! Here’s a little girl who knows what really matters. At once silly and serious, Karen Beaumont’s joyous rhyming text and David Catrow’s wild illustrations unite in a book that is sassy, soulful—and straight from the heart. Now in a Spanish-English bilingual board book edition.Movement Activity
PBT’S Where Are My Body Body Parts?, led by Kerra Alexander-Sullivan and accompanied by Dave O’Brien!
Description:
In this activity we will be singing a song to learn and dance out our body parts. Singing and dancing are fun and enjoyable ways for children to repeat words and phrases and repetition is a proven way to learn new words. Several studies have shown that singing can also improve brain function and cognition. Dance and sing with using the link above.
Step 1: Sing the “Where Is?” song to identify your body parts.
Step 2:
This song is sung to the tune of Frere Jacques. Repeat each verse twice
Verse 1: Where is (insert body part)?
Verse 2: Here I am (point to the body part)
Verse 3: Shake your (body part chosen)
Verse 4: Now we freeze
For young children, the caregiver may need to identify the body part using their own hands. For older children, have them decide which body part you are going to sing about in each round of the song.
Extension Activity: Place the beanbag on a body part and try to balance it there without it falling to the floor. Set a time limit or try to move around. Sing the song with the balancing too!
