Maja Petrovic

School Music Coordinator

A native of Serbia, Maja Petrovic holds a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from the Music Academy in Eastern Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. She went on to earn her Master’s degree at the Faculty of Music in Skopje, Macedonia, and an Artist Diploma in piano performance from Duquesne University, where she studied with David Allen Wehr.

Maja has won over thirty awards, both as a soloist and as a member of chamber music ensembles; She was chosen to perform the Serbian premiere of Beethoven’s piano concerto WoO 1 with Amoroso chamber orchestra. She has participated in masterclasses delivered by world renowned pianists, among whom were Jurij Kot (Ukraine), David Westfall (USA), Ian Jones (UK), and Klaus Schilde (Germany).

Maja has performed as a soloist in Serbia, Europe, and the United States, collaborating with orchestras, dance and opera companies, singers and instrumentalists. As a pedagogue, Maja has held a full time position as a teacher and accompanist at the Kornelije Stankovic Music School in Serbia. She has served as a judge in international competitions in Serbia and USA.
Maja joined the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School in 2019 and became a full-time staff pianist in 2022. Maja is frequently invited to serve as a dance pianist for ballet festivals and competitions.
