WHY LIVE MUSIC

Live music is essential in elevating the educational experience for aspiring dancers. Collaborating with professional musicians within the classroom fosters meaningful partnerships and creates an energetic, immersive atmosphere that recorded music simply cannot replicate. The presence of a live musician allows for real-time interaction and adaptation to the class’s needs, enhancing engagement and responsiveness. This training facilitates a deeper connection to the music, allowing students to observe and hear the musician’s interpretation, which improves their timing, phrasing, and overall musicality—essential components of ballet performance. Further, research indicates that musical experiences in childhood can enhance brain development in areas such as intellectual capabilities, social-emotional skills, gross motor skills, language, and literacy

“Playing for dance classes and rehearsals is such a creative process, that process changes and affects the energy, the mood, and the dynamic of one’s dancing. From the very first note we play, we initiate this inspiring collaboration with the dancer, and together we create an artistic space where they can express all those qualities in a different way every time they hear a certain piece of music.”
