2021 Zoom Auditions

Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School is excited to announce our 2021 audition dates! During our auditions, dancers from all across the country and world are invited to audition via Zoom for three exceptional programs:
– “Company Experience” Workshop  |  June 14-25, 2021 (Ages 16+)
– Intensive Summer Program  |  June 28-July 31, 2021 (Ages 12+)
– Pre-professional Program  |  Fall 2021-Spring 2022 (Ages 13+)

Students 18 years or older who attend the ballet summer intensive or school year programs will be considered by Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre Artistic Director Susan Jaffe for apprentice positions with PBT Company!

Audition Dates

Audition Information

• Ballet Auditions will be conducted by Zoom. A Zoom account is not required, though strongly recommend for ease of access. Sign up for a free Zoom account here.
• Each audition is a two-hour time block. The first portion will be designated for check-in. Students are expected to be available for the entire two-hour block.
• Required attire for females: flesh toned or pink tights, solid color leotard that contrast from their background.
• Required attire for males: white t-shirt, full-length black tights, tights and shoes contrasting from floor and background.
• If members of the same household wish to audition at the same time, they must access the Zoom meeting from separate devices and must not be visible in each other’s screens. If this is not possible, we advise members of the same household to audition at different times. Each auditioning student must have enough space for their full body to be shown on screen in the audition. It is preferred for students to be facing side profile at the barre for the audition, if possible.
• After a student’s registration has been submitted, they will receive a confirmation email with further audition information and guidelines.
• Students can expect to receive audition results by email within two (2) weeks after their audition.

Registration Information

• Students should choose their audition group based on the age they will be at the time of the audition, even if they will be a different age this summer.
• Registration will close at 8:00 a.m. EST on the Thursday before that weekend’s ballet auditions. Students will NOT be able to register on the day of the audition. Students should plan to sign in 5 minutes before the audition start time.
• The audition fee for our live classes is $30, and is non-refundable regardless of circumstances.
• Students must select all programs for which they wish to be considered, and will only be evaluated for those programs.
• Students must also provide photographs in their registration. All applications must include:
  1. Headshot
  2. Full body photo of the applicant in first arabesque (en pointe for women)
  3. Full body photo in tendu à la seconde en face
• Students auditioning for the “Company Experience” Workshop and the Pre-professional Division year-round program must also submit a dance résumé.
