PBT School Auditions

Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School’s National Audition Tour provides students across the country with opportunities to apply for PBT School’s summer and year-round programs. Dancers unable to attend an in-person audition may submit a video audition through DanceApply.

Ages: Please consult the summer or year-round program of your choice for specific age requirements. Dancers must meet the age requirement by the program start date.

Video Auditions: PBT School is accepting video submissions for the 2026 summer and 26/27 year-round programs through April 30. Please reach out to PBT School pbtschool@pittsburghballet.org with any questions.

Video Audition Requirements

SUBMIT VIDEO AUDITION

Videos must be sent in American standard format and should be no longer than 15 minutes.  The applicant must be the only dancer in the space.  Only one side of each combination is needed.  Dancers should avoid wearing any warm-ups or skirts in photos/videos. 

  • Barre work (pliés, tendus, fondu, adagio, and grand battements)
  • Center work (adagio, pirouettes, petit allegro, and grand allegro) 
  • Center work should be done en pointe for all dancers interested in the Pre-Professional Division Graduate Program (ages 17+), if space is safe to do center en pointe.

Additional exercises:

  • En pointe: Relevé, échappé passé, pirouette, relevés in arabesque, piqué diagonal 
  • Or: Petit allegro with beats, pirouettes, tours en l’air
  • Additional classical variation is encouraged
  • Recommended: Contemporary combination or variation
